Set in the heart of Warwickshire, Draycote Water near to Rugby offers water sports, fishing, wetlands, nature trails and bird hides.

Draycote Water

There are lots of activities you can take part in at Draycote, including cycling and walking. You can watch the sailing activities on the reservoir and view the surrounding countryside with the open slopes being popular for walking and kite flying. The Country Park covers 21 acres on the southern side of Draycote Water.

Things to do at Draycote Water

Cycling:

Grab the bikes and helmets and take in the scenic views of the water. There is a flat five mile tarmac road all the way around the reservoir that is great for cyclists of all levels. A section of the path is incorporated into the Sustrans Cycle Route 41.

Walking:

There is a flat five mile tarmac pavement around the reservoir which is ideal for a leisurely stroll. The 24 acre country park provides plenty of space to play games and enjoy the outdoors.The Hensborough hill top provides spectacular views and is a great place for a picnic. Download a map here.

Bird Watching:

For the bird watchers among you, the 'look out' bird hide is the ideal place to spot one of the many water birds that make Draycote Water their home. You can also find out what rare species of birds have been spotted here.

Watersports:

Why not try some sailing or windsurfing? There's lots on offer for all ages and abilities. To book a lesson contact Draycote sailing club. Membership to the sailing club is also on offer for avid sailors.

Fishing:

Draycote water is a great spot for fishing. There is a trout fishery on site operated by Fishery Management UK where boats and rods are available for hire. Day passes and lessons are available to book by calling 01788 812018. Season passes and loyalty cards are also up for grabs for regular visitors. Find out more here.

Cafe:

Whether it's a cool drink to quench your thirst or a hot meal to warm you up, the Waterside Restaurant has plenty on offer and offers great views across the reservoir. Read the menu here.

Kids Play Area:

Draycote Water has a great playground with lots for all ages including zip wire, climbing walls and lots of swings. There is a fenced area for very young ones and a complete climbing frame for the more adventurous.

Picnics:

The Country Park offers plenty of space (and benches) to enjoy a picnic. However, BBQ's are not allowed on site due to the fire risk.

Shops:

Inside the Visitor Hub there's a small shop selling items such as snacks, toys and ice creams.


Important Information about Draycote Water

Toilets:

There are two sets of toilets, one in the country park and the other located at the bottom of the visitor hub; both include disabled facilities.

Accessibility:

Draycote Water has a smooth surfaced path that's suitable for pushchair and wheelchair access. We want to make our visitor sites accessible for everyone. Car Parking:

Car parking is charged at £5 all day or £3 for 2 hours. You can buy an annual parking pass for £37, or a multisite parking permit for £60. Please call 0330 6780 701 for further information or request a call back online. Car Park opens at 7:30am every day except Christmas Day, closes at dusk September to April and 18:00 May to August.

Dogs at Draycote Water:

Sorry but your furry friend can't be walked around the reservoir we’re afraid, but the 24 acre Country Park allows for a short dog walk
