Coventry Museums Play Trail | Sessions at Coventry Transport Museum

Explore the Coventry Transport Museum in a playful way with your children using these trails and explorer boxes as you discover the gallery spaces. Designed for all ages.

  • Available everyday!
  • Free to loan | Included in admission

The team have introduced a range of carefully developed playful activities for you and your little ones to get involved in while you are visiting the Coventry Transport Museum.

Available every day at reception is an early years friendly trail activity, which includes playing with shapes, finding vehicles, spotting numbers and letters, all while you explore the museum.

You can also pick up one of the popular Mini Museum Engineers Play Boxes. The Play Boxes come as ride-on suitcases, perfect for when your little one's legs get tired and they need a rest, as you can keep them moving in a fun and exciting way. Each play box has a selection of playthings inside, along with play prompts for you to use as you explore the museum. Explore the contents of the box as you relax in a calm corner or pull up near your child's favourite vehicle. The content of the boxes will vary and are updated regularly.

All Engineer Explorer activities are free to loan from Box Office. Just ask for one activity to use throughout your visit and then return for other families to enjoy. Please be aware, that these activities are very popular and availability is subject to a first come, first served basis. You might spot some play boxes or trails at Box Office that are not in use but are unable to be handed out at your time of requesting them. This means that they are on a sanitising break where our museum team carefully cleans them, so the boxes are ready to be used and played with again.

*Not sure what STEM is? Don’t worry, you don’t really need to know what it is to enjoy and embrace these activities. That’s what our skilled and talented Learning Team are here for. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This can sound a little scary, especially when you have young children, but STEM-based play is important for children to develop skills and knowledge that they will use at school and into their adulthood too. Exposure to any play that encourages children to figure things out, how things work and to be creative is STEM, and as you become more familiar with our sessions, you will quickly realise that STEM is all around us, all the time, and you will have been supporting your children with this already, perhaps without even realising it.
