Trentham Monkey Forest

Looking for the perfect day out with the family? Look no further than Trentham Monkey Forest. Just off the M6, in a 60-acre ancient Staffordshire woodland, Trentham Monkey Forest is the only place in the UK where you can walk amongst 140 free-roaming Barbary macaque monkeys.

What is the Monkey Forest?

The natural behaviours of the monkeys can be seen right in front of your very eyes, making it one of the most fascinating places to visit in the UK. Guests can walk amongst the monkeys, along the 3/4 of a mile pathway and be AMAZED as the endangered monkeys live exactly how they would in the wild.

At this truly magical destination, the Forest provides visitors with an interesting yet educational experience, whilst raising awareness of the endangered status of wild Barbary macaques and what the park does to help them. The monkeys are completely free to roam the 60-acre forest and may even cross the path in front of you so it is truly a trip to remember*

If that wasn’t enough, for cheeky monkeys of your own, there is also a brand new, huge, primate-themed play area that opened at the park in July 2021. There is also a monkey-themed gift shop and a Banana Café where you can grab a bite to eat.

*Visitors cannot touch/feed.

How long will it take?

Monkey Forest is the perfect way to have a memorable day with the family. Most visitors spend a few hours within the monkey enclosure and are free to re-enter as many times as they wish during their trip. Visitors with little cheeky monkeys themselves also dedicate some time for them let off some steam in the BRAND NEW primate themed play area.

The woodland walk is just less than a mile long and there are multiple information boards along the way. Knowledgeable guides are situated throughout the forest to help answer any questions you may have during your trip and to ensure the park rules are followed.

Hourly feeding talks take place at quarter past each hour and are a must watch. It is always recommended to take your time around the forest, stopping to take pictures and take in the monkeys fascinating behaviour – they’re extremely entertaining to watch!

Outside the enclosure, the park also has a hidden trail, a meadow walk and also two information rooms.
