Founded in 1991 after a need was spotted for a shelter for homeless people arriving in Coventry for a meal at Holy Trinity Church, Coventry Open Christmas has grown from a single "one night only" project into a shelter that now opens its doors for several nights every Christmas, staying open 24 hours a day throughout.

Run by volunteers under the charity's "Grub & Gab Club", the organisation's aim is simple: to make sure no one is lonely or hungry at Christmas, whatever their circumstances - offering not just food and shelter, but company and a friendly smile too.

How to Help

Running the shelter takes extra resources every year, so the charity relies on donations of cash, food, bedding and clothes, as well as volunteers to staff the shifts. Or donate online to support their work.
