What is Fostering?
Fostering is the care of children and young people in a family home when they cannot live with their birth parents. In Coventry, foster carers provide a safe and supportive environment while longer-term plans are made for a child’s future.
Foster carers may support children by:
- Providing a safe and stable home environment
- Supporting school attendance and learning
- Helping with daily routines and emotional wellbeing
- Encouraging hobbies, interests, and social activities
- Working alongside social workers and professionals
Foster carers play an important role in helping children feel secure, valued, and supported during a challenging time. Read more.
"It doesn't matter what a person's background is - married, single, gay, straight, home-owner or not - what matters is that foster carers can be understanding, can see things from the child's perspective and be prepared to advocate and support the children and, despite any challenges that they may need to overcome, can recognise the potential in a child."
