Henley-in-Arden in Warwickshire is one of the prettiest towns in England. There's a mile-long High Street of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture including 150 historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Visiting Henley is like diving into an Enid Blyton novel.
From duck races to ancient mounds, from summer music festivals to the famous ice-cream parlour, Henley-in-Arden has plenty to offer. There's a bakery offering picnic treats, a circular walk featuring the Millennium Way, a free car park and excellent play facilities for children.
Heritage Trail
The most important historical buildings in Henley-in-Arden have been handily mapped out for you (and numbered) as part of the Henley Heritage Trail. Riverlands Park and Play Area
The River Alne runs through a beautiful green space in the centre of Henley-in-Arden - Riverlands. You can expect woodland and pond (at the right time of the year you might also spot a crested newt and other wildlife!). There are two play parks to cater for different ages and plenty of open space for your little one's to burn some energy! The river next to the park is perfect for a paddle in the summer, just make sure your little ones are always supervised!
Museum and Heritage Centre
Get your little ones interested in the history of the town at the Heritage Centre. Open Tuesday - Sunday between April and October, the heritage centre takes you through the town's history from the Norman Conquest to the current day. There's loads to see including a Victorian School Room, Home Life Room, Kitchen and interactive Learning Room. Can you answer the questions in the Victorian textbook? Places to Eat
There are loads of options in Henley- in- Arden if you're looking for a bite to eat. Check out the Visit Henley website for all the options! Coventry Rocks recommends Henley Ice Cream for a sweet treat or the Nag's Head for something more substantial - there's a large pub garden if the kids need somewhere to stretch their legs. There's a good selection of coffee shops if what you're after is a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
Millennium Way Circular Walk
The Millennium Way goes through Henley-in-Arden and this circular walk is very popular. It's 5.5 miles (including 21 stiles!) and starts at St John the Baptist Church. Shopping
Henley-in-Arden has a picturesque high street with plenty of shops to look in on. The Visit Henley Website has a comprehensive list. Pop in to Henley Vintage for retro treasures or check out the charity shops if bargain hunting is your thing.
