Why Blossom Tree?

Our “hybrid pedagogy,” which we refer to as a balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning interactions, which is necessary for this central focus on providing opportunities for children to practice and rehearse their learning after it has been taught to them. This will give them the confidence to use and apply the learning in broad and deep ways in the future.

The nursery is spacious and welcoming with plenty of natural resources for the children to explore throughout the day. We have a baby room, toddler room & Pre-school room.

We encourage independence by encouraging children to choose the activities which interest them the most, as well as self-serving at mealtimes. This supports the children in being independent learners and to have the skills they require for progression to school.

The children are able to free flow between the indoor and outdoor environment, with the large garden having enticing areas to explore. There is an area for climbing, with a slide and climbing tyres, and an outdoor classroom where more structured activities can take place.

Our setting welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS is a Government framework that sets out minimum standards of care and learning that all childcare providers are expected to deliver. Its purpose is to ensure that children are provided with a rich learning experience tailored to their individual needs whilst being cared for in a safe and secure environment. The EYFS contains a series of “Early Learning Goals” that set out what most children are expected to achieve by the end of their reception year.

These goals are grouped into six areas of learning:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication, language and literacy
  • Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development

As a nursery, we continually observe, listen to and assess the children in our care. This enables us to record their achievements in each of the six areas of learning and then to plan activities and provide resources that will extend each individual child’s learning and development.
