Join us at Coventry Charterhouse to celebrate the Festival of Light and hear the story of Rama and Sita unfold through the illuminated walled garden, narrated by Mahendra Patel. The event opens with a lamp-lighting ceremony at 4pm, from which the story will guide you through the garden.
Then enjoy East Meets West, a musical performance by Srividya Venkat and her accompanists. String and percussion instrumentalists perform a selection of pieces in a concert setting, while exploring their own creative musical space. Srividya Venkat is an Indian classical violinist based in Rugby.
To finish, take part in a Bhangra Ceilidh led by the English Folk Dance and Song Society and Keda Music. Led by band leader and composer Kuljit Bhamra MBE, it brings together a dazzling line-up of musicians, with live tabla and percussion (Kuljit Bhamra), melodeon (Hazel Askew) and more. Featuring specially composed tunes inspired by both vibrant traditions, the performance is designed to get everyone up and dancing.
The event takes place in the walled garden, which has step-free access. It is suitable for children. Meet at reception.
