Coventry City of Languages is a collaborative partnership between local teachers, university lecturers and academics, linguists and local businesses, with the support of a number of other stakeholders across the UK. Together, we are working to achieve a common vision of celebrating all languages spoken in Coventry, improving the learning and teaching of languages, and promoting the importance of languages for business and the community.

Knowledge of another language has become more important for a functioning UK economy in the 21st century than ever before. It is crucial for MFL and culture to be taught and valued in schools across the UK, and for schools across all key stages to work together to ensure the best possible provision, including transition from primary to secondary education.

All systems are go for our exciting launch event on October 8th, and all who are interested in supporting the promotion of languages and language learning in Coventry are welcome to come along!

The event features performances from schools and local artists, singing activities for toddlers and primary age children, Chinese crafts (calligraphy and paper-cutting), an escape room activity, a market place of language learning providers,  presentation of 16 Coventry City of Languages awards, and more!
