As part of the Wildlife Gathering, we are proud to present an exclusive screening of new documentary Atuel and an exploration of the gamification of the Atuel and Sherbourne rivers highlighting the connecting links between ecosystems in Coventry and internationally as we look to the future of our planet.
In 2020, Coventry-based filmmaker Ben Cook partnered with Argentinian artist, Mariana Bollati, and South African producer Pierre Heistein to make a documentary on the Atuel River to build awareness of the impact of human consumption and climate change on the river and open a discussion on possible solutions.
Supported by the British Council as part of the Coventry UK City of Culture International Changemakers Bursary, Ben worked again with Mariana and local artists to build an interactive game around the topic of river use, applicable to both Argentina and Coventry. In the spirit of “twin rivers'', the game is built to guide players along the Atuel River and Coventry's River Sherbourne, introducing them to the different cultures and habitats and the diversity of uses of the river, and propose challenges that draw awareness to the complex relationship we have with our natural resources.
