When a patient is diagnosed with glaucoma or ocular hypertension, it is a daunting diagnosis that comes with many questions. The Glaucoma Service want their work to go further than what they do in clinic day to day. They want their patients to have the most information about their condition and have the most support with treating it. Glaucoma is an eye disease that affects the nerve at the back of the eye. There are many forms of glaucoma and not all variations require treatment.
The Glaucoma Service have already had two successful support group sessions, with patients being able to ask questions, find out more information and be involved in an open conversation about Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension. They also have guest speakers from Glaucoma UK, consultants, doctors and members of the glaucoma team, who will provide expert information and advice. Another great aspect of the support group is patients are surrounded with people who have a similar diagnosis, and who are going through a similar issues as each other.
The next support group will be at Jubilee crescent community centre, Jubilee Crescent, Coventry on the 8th November 2024 from 10 am until 12noon. This support group is open to patients who have had a formal diagnosis of glaucoma or ocular hypertension for a tea/ coffee and to discuss any concerns or questions they have. To book, please call 02476 966493. Leave your name address, and an invite will be sent out in the post. The team hope to see you there!
