Summer Crafts for Kids at Balsall Common Library

Herb Planter and Design Your Own Vegetable Patch
Drop in for a selection of fun crafts on the theme of this year's Summer Reading Challenge
- Date: Tuesday 22nd July 10.15am - 11.15am and 11.30am - 12.30pm
- Location: Balsall Common Library
- Suitable for: children aged 6 to 11 years accompanied by a grown up
- This is a FREE event but MUST be booked in advance.
Inspired by the theme of the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge ‘Story Garden’ you will be making and planting your own Herb Planters, followed by a craft activity that gives you the opportunity to design your own vegetable patch. There are two sessions, one at 10.15am and one at 11.30am. Places must be booked - please visit the library website.
Planting and Bookmark Making
- Date: Tuesday 31st July 2.15pm - 3.15pm and 3.30pm - 4.30pm
- Location: Balsall Common Library
- Suitable for: children aged 6 to 11 years accompanied by a grown up
- This is a FREE event but MUST be booked in advance.
Inspired by the theme of the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge ‘Story Garden’, come and create a fun character head to take home and watch their grass hair grow! You will also be making pom-pom flower friend bookmarks. There are two sessions, one at 2.15pm and one at 3.30pm. Places must be booked - please visit the library website.
Make a Sea Windcatcher
- Date: Thursday 14th August | 2.30pm - 4.30pm
- Location: Balsall Common Library
- Suitable for: children aged 5 to 11 years accompanied by a grown up
- This is a FREE event but MUST be booked in advance.
Craftivism involves slowly and carefully crafting items that make a statement, advocate for change and challenge injustice. Put down your placards and pick up your craft materials, it’s time to change the world! Balsall Common Craftivists will be joining you at the library to demonstrate making sea-themed wind catchers from recycled material. Places must be booked - please visit the library website.
