A right Royal summer of fun is taking place at St Mary’s Guildhall with the launch of their new exhibition, Majestic Monarchs of St Mary’s Guildhall ,and a summer programme filled with trails, crafts and activities all with a royal theme!

Find out how the Royals of England shaped Coventry and what a massive role they played in the development of both the city and St Mary’s, from partying to politics, from banquets to battles and all the drama in between. Uncover their stories including James II's famous custard mishap, Princess Elizabeth's narrow escape from the Gunpowder Plot, Richard II's legendary duel that never was, and George VI’s moving wartime visits to our blitzed city.

After the successful launch of their ‘Royal Coventry’ book local historians Adam Wood and Laura Keep will be back at St Mary’s Guildhall for a Walk With Kings and Queens. Join them to follow in the footsteps of royalty, as they guide you around the medieval streets surrounding St Mary’s Guildhall, and regale you with stories of visits to Coventry by Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots; of Edward VII, Edward VIII and George VI; and many more beside.

A Royal Progress Family Trail: for young visitors to find colours in the rooms and then create a fun masterpiece.
The Crown Jewels Quest for older visitors; to find the clues and uncover the secret code to open the treasure chest. Use the jewels to create your very own royal crown.
Royals on tour – try on our historical costumes and use the props and your crown to take your own royal photo.
Wax melt station, stamp your own seal.
Interactive Digital Characters
Gaming Kiosks including our spice game; can you collect the spices in time for the Visitor of King James I?
Royal crafts on our craft table - including, creating you own house banner, making a fun scroll and colouring in, fun for all.
Decode the letter from Queen Elizabeth about Mary Queen of Scots.

Accessibility
For everyone to enjoy St Mary’s Guildhall, there is a lift to the first floor and rising platform into the Muniment Room. There is a new spiral staircase to the 2nd floor and where access is not step free, 360 panoramic views of the rooms are available on the digital tour tablets.
There are toilet and baby changing facilities on the ground floor located opposite the Cloisters.
