Miners' Welfare Park

Parks & Walks

The beautiful Miners' Welfare Park in Bedworth has something for everyone!

Miners' Welfare Park | Bedworth

A spectacular play area with rock towers and water play, a skate park for all abilities, formal gardens, wildflower meadows and protected nature reserves and kilometres of cycle path and footpath linking out through Black Bank to the National Cycle route (NCN 52), to the Coventry Canal and on footpaths to the wider countryside and beyond!

The park also forms the backdrop to Bedworth Leisure Centre, Bedworth United's ground and is host to a range of cricket, bowls and tennis courts and clubs.

Children's Play Areas at Miners' Welfare Park

Lying at the heart of the park, the main "Heaven's Place" children's play area includes:

  • sand and water play
  • large sand pit
  • sound making equipment
  • rock towers
  • slides
  • swings
  • gravity bowl
  • nest swing

A further range of play equipment for older children, including a zip line, lies in and amongst the trees between the tennis courts and the leisure centre.

Skate Park

The large skate park offers a range of ramps and trick boxes. You can check out some skilled skateboarders and BMX and scooter riders pulling off tricks including ollies, grinds and grabs. Don't forget your safety helmet and pads!

Wildlife and Nature Reserves

If you head to the south side of the park away from the town centre you can find quieter recreation in the Black Bank and Bayton Lake designated Local Wildlife Sites. The wildflower meadows at these sites can be a spectacular site in the early summer- filled with flowers and butterflies and the meadows (along with the other woodland and wetland areas) host a wealth of wildlife all year round.

Frisbee/ Disc Golf Course and Pitch and Putt

A 9 hole pitch and putt course lies to the south of the cricket ground and an extensive disc golf course has also recently been installed in many areas of the park with funding from the SITA Trust Landfill Communities Fund.

Measured Mile and Green Gym

The outdoor Green Gym near the Leisure Centre offers a fun way for adults and children alike to get physically active, and it's completely free. The equipment is designed just like indoor gym equipment to work the whole body, and instructions are clearly visible at every station. The Measured Mile starts near the Leisure Centre entrance and is marked with blue footprints on the tarmac at junctions and turning points.

Mayor's Café and Bedworth Community Gardens

The Mayor's Café offers a tasty selection of hot and cold food and drinks as well as ice creams. The menu features different dishes and specials made each day with fresh ingredients - including vegetables grown in the Bedworth Community Gardens project.

The Mayor's Café forms part of the Bedworth Community Gardens run by the local charity People in Action. The Community Gardens project offers opportunities for people needing support in their community through horticultural therapy.

Good quality plants and produce are grown for sale throughout the seasons and the Café uses the fruit and vegetables that are grown on site to offer tasty lunches and snacks. Why not visit the café and gardens to enjoy a healthy lunch and pick up a new plant for your garden on the way out!

Toilets

Toilets are available during daylight hours in the rear of the Bedworth United Football stand and also both ay the Mayor's Café and Leisure Centre during their opening hours.
