About Alpacas

Faerie Tale Alpacas have around 60 alpacas in a lovely range of colours and new for 2025 a small herd of miniature Shetland ponies. Alpacas are friendly and intelligent animals which are farmed for their beautiful luxury fleece. We offer both 2 hour and 1 hour visits.

2 hour Alpaca Experience

Come and meet our herd and learn all about alpacas! We start with a short talk about alpacas, then cuddle a very sweet, quiet alpaca and meet our babies and mini ponies. We then stroll around the farm to feed the main herd and finish by taking an alpaca for a walk (1 alpaca between 2).

The actual alpaca walk is approximately 45 minutes. The entire 2 hours is outside so please check the weather and wear appropriate clothes and sensible footwear ideally wellies or boots. Open toed shoes are not suitable. 

Please note, the experience is not suitable for young children aged 5 and under.

Alpaca experiences are £22.50 per person. You must book in advance via the website.

We did the 60-minute ‘show and tell’, where you get to walk among the alpacas, stroke them, and feed them. If you’re a Shetland pony fan, there are also three sweet ponies who love attention. And if dogs are more your thing, you’ll meet Gimley, a very sociable French Bulldog who will keep bringing you toys until you throw one! He doesn’t steal the show, but he definitely adds to it. 60 minute Alpaca Meet & Greet

Come and meet our beautiful alpacas and mini Shetland ponies. Cuddle a very sweet and gentle alpaca, take lots of photos, stroke and pet the ponies and meet the baby alpacas.

Alpaca Birthday Parties

Faerie Tale Alpacas can also host children’s parties - with two options to choose from:

90 minutes with an alpaca walk:

You'll start with meeting and petting a very quiet, gentle alpaca and and learning a bit about them. Then you'll meet, brush and feed the miniature Shetland ponies, then walk around the farm to meet the new alpaca babies and feed the herd. You'll finish by taking one for a walk usually 1 alpaca per 2-3 children.  

Then afterwards you’re welcome to bring a picnic/ cake to eat in the field. Or if it’s not great weather you can eat in the barn. Private 90 minute parties start at £200 for up to 10 children and then £20 per extra child. 

60 minute party:

The second party is a 1 hour meet and greet, generally suitable for younger children. Children get to learn a bit about the alpacas and ponies and cuddle a very quiet alpaca. Then stroke, brush and pet the ponies and meet the new alpaca babies and take lots of photos.

 This option is £150 for up to 10 children then £15 per additional child. Again you’re welcome to bring a cake/ picnic to have afterwards.

Important Information

• Please be aware that there are no public toilets onsite.
• Tours maybe cancelled due to bad weather in which case alternative dates will be offered.
• All under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
• Please note that all children must be calm and quiet around the alpacas as they are easily startled and upset.
