About Alpacas

Faerie Tale Alpacas have around 60 alpacas in a lovely range of colours and new for 2025 a small herd of miniature Shetland ponies. Alpacas are friendly and intelligent animals which are farmed for their beautiful luxury fleece. We offer both 2 hour and 1 hour visits.

2 hour Alpaca Experience

Come and meet our herd and learn all about alpacas! We start with a short talk about alpacas, then cuddle a very sweet, quiet alpaca and meet our babies and mini ponies. We then stroll around the farm to feed the main herd and finish by taking an alpaca for a walk (1 alpaca between 2).

The actual alpaca walk is approximately 45 minutes. The entire 2 hours is outside so please check the weather and wear appropriate clothes and sensible footwear ideally wellies or boots. Open toed shoes are not suitable.

Please note, the experience is not suitable for young children aged 5 and under.

Alpaca experiences are £22.50 per person. You must book in advance via the website.

60 minute Alpaca Meet & Greet

Come and meet our beautiful alpacas and mini Shetland ponies. Cuddle a very sweet and gentle alpaca, take lots of photos, stroke and pet the ponies and meet the baby alpacas.

Suitable for all ages.

Prices £14.00 per adult, £12 per under 16 and £5 per under 5.

Alpaca Birthday Parties

We can also host children’s parties, they are usually 90 minutes. We start with meeting and stroking a very sweet quiet alpaca, then pet and feed a gentle miniature Shetland pony. We then stroll around the farm to meet the alpaca babies and finish by taking an alpaca for a walk, 1 alpaca per 2-3 children.

Depending on the ages and numbers a few adults would be great to help supervise the children. Then afterwards you’re welcome to bring a picnic / cake to eat in the field. Or if it’s not great weather you can eat in the barn.

Private 90 minute parties start at £200 for up to 10 children and then £20 per extra child.

For younger children we also offer 1 hour meet and greet’s. Children get to learn a bit about the alpacas, cuddle a very quiet alpaca, take photos and then meet the baby alpacas. This is £150 for up to 10 children, again you’re welcome to bring a picnic to have afterwards.

Important Information

Please be aware that there are no public toilets onsite.
Tours maybe cancelled due to bad weather in which case alternative dates will be offered.
All under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Please note that all children must be calm and quiet around the alpacas as they are easily startled and upset.
