Established in 2021, Longford Striders has built a thriving local running community that welcomes everyone with a desire to run. The Sunday Social 5K and Run/Walk groups are completely free to join, with every session led by qualified England Athletics Run Leaders. 

Focusing on fitness, fun, and friendship, the sessions provide a supportive and encouraging environment for people to enjoy running. While the groups are beginner-friendly, total beginners may benefit from completing a Couch to 5K course beforehand.

What to expect

Longford Striders’ Sunday morning sessions at Longford Park focus on getting people moving, building confidence, and enjoying running in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. The free Sunday Social 5K and Run/Walk groups meet every Sunday at 9am and are led by qualified England Athletics Run Leaders, ensuring everyone feels welcome, supported, and safe. 

The groups run together using a “no one left behind” approach with loop backs and pace options, so participants of all abilities can take part at their own level. Sessions are open to anyone aged 12 and above.

Free monthly coached sessions

In addition, Longford Striders offers free monthly coached sessions led by qualified England Athletics Coaches to help runners build confidence, improve technique, and develop safely at their own pace. Whether the goal is to improve fitness, maintain an active lifestyle, or enjoy fresh air with friendly company, Longford Striders provides a warm and inclusive environment.
