This wildlife haven was created over 30 years ago in an old quarry, once full of rubbish and cars. Now it is a beautiful and interesting garden, with so much to explore.

Secret Quarry Garden at Russell's Garden Centre

Stroll among the six acres of tranquil pools, streams, trees and flowering shrubs and spot the many birds, amphibians and animals that have made it their home.

You will also find the Creepy Overgrown Maze, Bee Hives, and there are a lot of benches. If you do enjoy a picnic please take your rubbish with you.

Important Information

The gardens are set in an ancient rock quarry and are great fun to explore, however there some deep pools and steep drops around the garden, so please ensure your little ones are under close supervision at all times.

Some paths can be narrow and steep at times so not ideal for pushchairs.

Please be aware that after wet weather it might be best to come in Wellies to enjoy all of the garden to the fullest.

Love on the Rocks at Secret Quarry Garden

Throughout the garden you may be lucky enough to find hand painted rocks. Please take note of the instructions below, to ensure everyone can enjoy this family friendly activity.

When to visit

The garden is a peaceful place to visit all year round, and you will spot different plants and wildlife at different times of the year.

The best time to visit is Spring - it is a true delight, with a mass of azaleas and rhododendrons coming to bloom in May.

Dogs at Secret Quarry Garden

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on the lead. Please pick up any mess and take it with you.

The entrance you the Secret Quarry Garden is adjacent to the main car park at Russell's Garden Centre.

Opening Times

The Secret Quarry Garden is open all year, every day from 10am to 4pm.
