Food Union Coventry are kicking off their event calendar on the 28th of January for their first Song and Soil of the year. They're partnering with Flawed Mandrake Theatre to bring you a beautiful lantern lit wassail on the allotment with accompanying music to help us ward off evil spirits and impish issues in the growing season ahead and bless the trees in the hope of a bountiful harvest later in the year.

Lighting their blessings will be an array of lanterns built especially for the event by Food Union members, guided by Pippa of Flawed Mandrake Theatre. Because the word 'wassail' comes from the Anglo-Saxon greeting waes hael, which means 'good health' they'll also be providing some warm & nourishing food and drink courtesy of The Pod café.

So once again join them as they drink and sing to the health of our trees and prepare to kick off what they hope to be a fruitful harvest on the Food Union Allotment. This is a free event with a small charge of £4 for food. Drinks are free of charge.
