This August, Coventry city centre will come alive with the Big Summer Takeover – a month-long programme of FREE family events taking place throughout the summer holidays. From a seaside-themed day and free outdoor cinema to exciting sports activities, BMX displays, freestyle stunts and an exhilarating zipwire, there is something new to enjoy every weekend.

What's On at The Big Summer Takeover

City Seaside – Saturday 1 August 

Broadgate will be transformed into Coventry's very own seaside escape for a fun-filled day of family entertainment. Expect colourful street performances, a giant inflatable lobster and even dry land water skiing!

Movies in the Ruins – Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 

Enjoy free daytime and early evening screenings of family favourite films inside the spectacular Coventry Cathedral Ruins. It's the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of outdoor cinema in one of the city's most iconic settings.

Sports Fest – Tuesday 11 to Saturday 15 August 

Get active and have a go at a huge range of sports and activities for all ages. From football and athletics to racket sports, dance, fitness and inclusive sessions, there's plenty to keep the whole family moving during the summer holidays. Find out more

Action Zone – Saturday 22 August 

Get ready for an adrenaline-filled day of high-energy BMX and freestyle stunt shows, live DJs and exciting activities. Visitors can try out beginner stunts or take on the spectacular zipwire stretching from Broadgate to Upper Precinct.
