About Earlsdon Carnegie Community Library
As a registered charity, the library relies on public donations to keep its doors open. But it is more than just a home for books. The library provides free hot drinks as part of the Warm Welcome Scheme for those who are vulnerable, hosts regular sessions such as the Memory Café, and on most Saturday nights transforms into a music venue showcasing talented local musicians.
The story of the library began in 2018 when the council threatened to close its doors. The community refused to let that happen and took the library on. Years later, it is still going strong and remains a source of local pride. What started as a fight to keep the library open has become a thriving hub, offering a safe, supportive, and vibrant place for so many people.
The shelves are well stocked with books, with frequent new additions available for anyone to borrow free of charge with a library card. On fine days, preloved bookshop trolleys are placed outside, offering books for as little as 50p, with all proceeds going directly back into the library.
The library’s events are as varied as ever. Alongside free family favourites such as Bookwormery and Lego Club, the library offers much more than most. Monthly music nights with well-known local musicians, theatre performances, author talks, and other cultural events keep the programme exciting and diverse. There is always something happening at Earlsdon Carnegie Community Library, and the community is warmly invited to get involved and show their support.
