Children’s Wood
Children love building shelters! Children’s Wood is an area of woodland within the park set aside for them to do exactly that. A wealth of building materials in the form of cut branches are put there by the rangers to allow our younger visitors to enjoy taking part in this exciting activity.

The Cafe at Ryton Pools
The brand new Farmers Fayre in the Park is now open at Ryton Pools Country Park for breakfast rolls, crepes, toasties, cakes and more! Open every day 8am - 4pm. No need to book. Find out more here.

Picnic Areas at Ryton Pools
There is an abundance of picnic areas dotted all around Ryton Pools, and it is a perfect setting for a family picnic.

Toilets
Toilets are available with baby changing and disabled facilities. Open 9am to dusk.

Miniature Railway at Ryton Pools
Between April and the end of September, you can take a ride on the Miniature Railway on Sundays between 1 pm and 4 pm. The journey costs just £1 per passenger and lasts around 6 minutes.

Visitor centre
The Visitor Centre is located next to the main car park and is open every day. A selection of gifts, walking and cycling leaflets, books and toys can be found in the gift shop.

Orienteering
Come and try orienteering in the country parks, run or walk around using a large scale specially drawn map. All ages 5 – 85 are welcome, especially families. Bring a compass if you have one.

Cycling at Ryton Pools
There are miles of surfaced paths around the site which cyclists are permitted to use provided they proceed with caution and are aware that others may also be using the Park.
