Coombe Abbey Park

Wyken Slough Nature Reserve

Tocil Wood and Nature Reserve

Tocil Wood is an ancient oak woodland with swamp and wet meadow which has existed for many centuries. The reserve is good for migrant warblers and over 60 species of birds have been recorded. It's a lovely relaxing place to feed the ducks and geese. Find out more here.

Abbey Fields in Kenilworth

Abbey fields is set in the dramatic valley of Finham Brook and enjoys views of the historic town and Kenilworth Castle. The grassy slopes, lake, children's play areas and café make it an ideal spot for a day out with the kids. The picturesque lake is home to a large selection of ducks, swans and geese. Ryton Pools Country Park

Coundon Wedge

Meriden Duck Pond

There is a small duck pond in the picturesque village of Meriden, with lots of ducks, swans and geese to feed. There are a couple of benches if you want to sit and pass the time. Find the duck pond along Main Road, between the Manor Hotel and Heart of England Social Club.

Quinton Park

Quinton Park is an attractive open park with a natural spring fed pool. Nestled amongst houses in Cheylesmore, this is a lovely hidden gem! You can find flocks of Canada Geese, Mallards, and many other water birds.

What should we feed the ducks?

Did you know bread is bad for ducks? Bread doesn't have much nutritional value and fills ducks up so they don't forage for foods they would naturally eat. So instead of bringing bread to feed the ducks, why not try something different?

Sweetcorn - It turns out that ducks are quite partial to a sweetcorn - tinned, frozen or fresh.
Lettuce - As a nation we’re guilty of throwing away a vast amount of lettuce, especially the bagged variety. Instead of consigning it to the bin, rip it into pieces and treat your local ducks. Rocket, Kale and Iceberg are all great choices.
Frozen peas - There’s no need to cook them but make sure you defrost them first!
Oats - Flapjacks, rolled oats and even instant porridge oats will be a huge hit with ducks.
Seeds - Whether you buy bird seed or seeds from the healthy aisle in the supermarket – the ducks will be very grateful for these nutritious nibbles.
Rice - Wild ducks will appreciate a handful of leftover rice from a takeaway. You can also use uncooked rice, both are fine.
